Allocations¶
Access to NAISS resources is offered free of charge to researchers affiliated with Swedish academia. All scientific outputs produced using NAISS resources must include an appropriate acknowledgement. Researchers are also expected to stay informed about and adhere to the NAISS ethical guidelines. Once an allocation period has concluded, researchers are required to submit an activity report.
News¶
NAISS has changed the proposal rounds structure. From 2026, we do not offer separate compute, storage, and sensitive data rounds, only one type of Large (spring and fall), Medium and Small rounds, all with the possibility to apply for compute resources, storage resources, cloud resources and resources for sensitive data in the same proposal.
We recommend users to apply for all their needs in a single proposal. NAISS recognises that there may be special cases which might require more than one proposal, for example if an applicant has a need to handle both sensitive and non-sensitive data, but access to the sensitive data should be restricted to a subset of co-investigators. A request for any such exception should be clearly motivated in the proposals.
How to register a proposal¶
Register your proposal via the Swedish User and Project Repository (SUPR) website.
PIs with existing Compute and Storage allocations for the same research project should clone or continue their existing Compute project (NOT the Storage project) and then request both compute and storage in the new combined NAISS proposal. On the Directory Name page of the combined proposal, you should select 'Take over directory name "DIRECTORYNAME" from project NAISS YYYY/NN-NN', where the project refers to your old storage project.
Types of allocations¶
NAISS offers several types of allocations to match different research needs. These cover both compute and storage resources. Below is an overview explaining how the main allocation types are defined.
