Learning outcomes¶

Below are the learning outcomes of this course, as copied from its evaluation. The course is learner-centered (why?), hence the pace is determined be the learners (i.e. not by the clock).

• I have connected to my HPC cluster in at least 1 way. This can be via a web browser, SSH or a remote desktop client
• I have transferred a file to my favorite HPC cluster. This can be using FileZilla or scp

Non-goals¶

These are learning outcomes that this course does not provide:

• I can transfer data using rsync: this is part of the NAISS 'File Transfer 102' course
• I can transfer data using sftp: this is part of the NAISS 'File Transfer 102' course
• I can compress and archive files before transferring: this is part of the NAISS 'File Transfer 102' course
• I can transfer files between clusters: this is part of the NAISS 'File Transfer 102' course
• Practice using a Linux file system: this is part of the prerequisites and is taught at the NAISS 'Command Line 101' course
• Practice using Bash: this is part of the prerequisites and is taught at the NAISS 'Command Line 101' course
• Practice writing scripts: this is part of the NAISS 'Running jobs on clusters' course
• Practice submitting jobs: this is part of the NAISS 'Running jobs on clusters' course
